Sand Bag lifting and Minimizing Strength Work

Navy Sea Bag

Today I picked up my sea bag and did a quick 20  reps of picking it up off of the floor and putting it on my shoulders. I alternated shoulders each rep. I forgot what a great exercise this was. It’s been a while since I did them. I used to add them to the end of each bodyweight FUN-damental circuit.

The more I trim away at my workouts I find that I end up going back to what I used to do. A lot of body movements. It just makes sense and I feel my body getting faster and more agile every day.

My strength workouts end up being only two days a week now. One day I’ll do Deadlifts and Dips. Then the next workout, after 1 or 2 days of no “real” strength work, I’ll do clean and presses or military presses and pull-ups. Pretty basic right. And yet I feel myself getting stronger every workout.

I’ll also do a daily minimum of push-ups, rows, and whatever else I might feel like doing, like 1 minute cardio or 1 minute warrior on my off days. But those aren’t “real workouts because I don’t push myself. Like yesterday, I did 25 push-ups just because I felt like it. It wasn’t hard though and therefore won’t cause my body need any extra rest days. If I happen to put on some music and a nice fast track comes on, I usually jump up and start going through some fight moves to the beat. It’s fun to me that way.

If I feel sore, like I had a bit of soreness in the middle of my back today, I end up doing one set of bent over rows with a very light dumbbell. I find that it helps get the blood flowing and relieves the soreness faster.

Once my entire upper body felt tight and sore. I went swimming for 2 hours and when I climbed out of the pool all my soreness was gone and I felt nice and loose.
