A lot of exercises done in the military are done using 3 counts. Some call them four counts. The way do do them is as follows.

One of the exercises I had to do in boot camp were Rifle Jacks. I was on the drill team so I had to practice pretty much every day. Rifle Jacks are another way of doing jumping jacks, using your rifle as added weight.

The barefoot and minimalist movement is getting a lot of press these days. I myself bought a pair of Vibram Five Fingers, but didn’t like them. They didn’t feel like being barefoot to me and actually hurt my forefoot.
Mind you, this is during walking. I never even ran in them. I get more of a barefoot feeling wearing a pair of $25 sneakers from Payless.
Are you wondering why you workout and it doesn’t seem to be working. There might be a few reasons. Here are 8 of them.
WOD: Rest
I also did 1 set of 70 swings, just to get something in on the rest day. I had energy and felt like I had to do something.
If you are interested in or have begun barefoot running, ease into it slowly. The high impact can cause stress fractures.
WOD: Swim day
Today was a swimming day. I swam for 1 hour using the combat side stroke. I also practiced freestyle for a bit.
I still have trouble getting the breathing timed correctly on freestyle, yet I can swim the CSS for 10 laps without a problem.
That’s just another reason why I think freestyle should be one of the last strokes learned.
